Thousands are in danger of severe measles epidemic affecting the whole territory of the Central African Republic, CEOAFRICA.com gathered.
Speaking during a radio broadcast, Health Minister Aguid Sounouk has said, "I call on the national transitional government and all partners in health care to mobilise for urgent measures ... to minimise the impact of this epidemic."
It was disclosed by the minister that the spread of the disease was as a result of no action taken to contain the measles epidemic since 2012.
Central African Republic is in the middle of insurgency that saw the president Francois Bozize overthrown in March, as rebel coalition joined other forces to form an interim government.
Meanwhile, medical experts have warned of the risk for every people due to the high contagious nature of measles, as most of the affected children have not been vaccinated against it.
The vaccination campaign which took place in the capital Bangui in May this year was only able to reach 122,000 children, with about 1.5 million unattended to in other parts of the country.
