Eid-El-Kabir: Oyo CP Olukolu assures citizens of peaceful celebrations

The Commissioner of Police, Oyo state Police Command CP Shina T. Olukolu on Friday assures Muslim faithfuls in the state on the forthcoming Sallah celebrations that, the command is fully prepared and adequate security measures have been emplaced to respond adequately to any security threats from any individuals or groups who may be bent on disturbing the relative peace and tranquillity being enjoyed by the law abiding citizens in the state.

In a Press release signed and made available to CEOAFRICA by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Oyo State Police Command, SP Fadeyi Olugbenga, the CP felicitate with Muslim faithfuls in Oyo state on the forthcoming Eid-el-kabir celebrations, equally extends his greetings to those who have embarked on pilgrimage to the Holy land, wished them a successful Hajj and safe return back home and urged them to pray for Nigeria as a nation.

Olukolu however advised that the celebrants should be conscious of their security, the environment, suspicious parcels, packages, individuals and avoid frivolous journey and invitations particularly by unknown persons on telephone who may pretend to be friend but may only be an enemy lurking around to commit havoc.

The Press Release Reads: “The Commissioner of Police, Oyo State Police Command, CP Shina T. Olukolu wishes to felicitates with Muslim faithful in Oyo state on the forthcoming Sallah celebrations. He equally extends his greetings to those who have embarked on pilgrimage to the Holy land and wishes them a successful Hajj and safe return in the name of Allah, the merciful, the benevolence. He reminds and urged them to use the opportunity to pray for Nigeria as a nation and the entire Nigerians as a whole”.

“He therefore uses this medium to warn organizers of frivolous street carnivals to be wary of disgruntled youths or idle individuals who are criminally minded and always willing to use such avenues to extort money, intimidate their perceived rivals and commits crimes including murder. He stated in a very clear terms that the police will therefore not stand by and watch some violent individuals or groups under the aegis of carnivals to engage in activities that will disturb the peace of the environment or that may lead to breakdown of law and order”.

“Consequently, organizers of such unapproved street carnivals should be ready to bear the consequences of any negative fallout before, during and after the celebrations. The Police also seizes this opportunity to call on all the leaders of Okada to join hands with the police to flush out criminality minded people individuals in their midst who has been devising several means and Modus Operandi to commit crimes such as stealing, armed robbery, rape etc.  It is pertinent to note that, Police searchlight will henceforth be beamed on such operators with a view of running them out of business and bringing them to justice”.

Olukolu implored all the peace loving people of Oyo State to continue to support, cooperate and assist the Police with credible information to enable the Police serve them better particularly at this yuletide period.
