Former Governor, Peter Obi to deliver Chrisland University maiden convocation lecture

The former Governor of Anambra State, His Excellency Dr. Peter Obi will deliver a lecture during the series of events scheduled for the maiden convocation of Chrisland University, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

In a statement made available to CEOAFRICA, the institution media partner, by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola on Tuesday, 23rd October, 2019 announces the programme of events to hold between Wednesday 30th October - 1st November, 2019 in grand style.  

The statement described the series of events for the maiden convocation ceremony to be scheduled as follows:

On Day 1 “The Maiden Convocation Lecture will be delivered by the former Executive Secretary, Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Peter Oyebukola with the theme “Building a World Class University in Africa: The Role of Private Universities” on the 30th October, 2019 by 10:00am at the University Auditorium”.

The statement also stated that, the Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt, Professor Nimi Briggs will be the Convocation Guest Chairman. 

Meanwhile, on Day 2, Thursday 31st, investiture of Chieftaincy title “MOOJILA EGBA” on Chrisland University Chancellor, High Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Winifred Awosika (OON) by His Royal Highness, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo III, Alake of Egbaland at the Alake’s Palace by 11:00am while Endowment Fund will hold by 2:00pm at the University Auditorium.

However, on Day 3, Friday 1st of November, the maiden convocation ceremony for the Award of First Degrees and Presentation of Prizes, with the Theme of Speech “Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship: A critical Intersection for Economic Development in Africa” will be delivered by the former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi at the University Auditorium by 11:00am.

Thanksgiving Service will come up on Sunday 3rd by 10:00am at the University Auditorium of the institution.
