The Release of Stars: Lauretta Onemu emerges Chrisland University best graduating student

Miss Lauretta Onemu of the Department of Psychology, Chrisland University, Abeokuta has emerged the best graduating student during the maiden convocation ceremony of the institution recently.

Miss Onemu graduated with the cumulative Grade Point Aggregate (CGPA) of 5.5 to have remained the overall best student among the Dynamic Seven Stars graduands.

Miss Ruth Eluagwule of the same department (Psychology) made the ‘second’ first class graduating student, while others graduated with Second Class Uppers.

Chrisland University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chinedum Babalola, in her statements, said that the institution churned out 7 graduates whom they referred to as the “Seven Stars”.

In her statement, Miss Onemu who smiles home with a monetary gift of Three-hundred thousand naira (N300,000) with two different awards; the overall best graduating student, and the best graduating student in the department of psychology, an award from Olumide Awosika said, she has never seen herself as one of the best.

“Believe it or not, I’m not always at the top of the class and I definitely didn’t feel like one of the best no matter what in my class. As long as I didn’t have carry over in any of my courses I’m okay but I knew I had to strive to be the best that I could be and the school provided an opportunity for me to discover the bounces of my creativity, intelligence, and increase my zeal to discover my full potential” she said.

Miss Onemu who described herself as a little bit of perfection said, she didn’t have all the answers she thought she would have and she may not be where she thought she would be but she’s definitely grateful she’s not at where she used to be.

 “If God had really answered my prayers as I have proposed since when I was 9, medical school would have worked for me and I wouldn’t have discovered the great privilege of being the overall best student at Chrisland University today” Onome said.

Onome however urged her fellow graduands to reinvent themselves and reach a new height as they go into the world by aiming higher to attain excellence while newly admitted students should work hard, have friends who can motivate them to do greater things in life, and most importantly talk to their lord and saviour on daily basis.
