Oyo Commissioner, Abiodun alive, driver confirmed dead, says Oyo CP, Olukolu

The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Shina T. Olukolu has confirmed the killing of the driver attached to the Oyo State Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Survey, Mr Abdulraheem Abiodun during an attacked by unknown gunmen on Wednesday at Academy area of Ibadan, Oyo State.  

The Police Commissioner confirmed this on Thursday while parading 40 suspects over alleged kidnapping, murder, cultism and armed robbery at the Command’s Headquarter, Eleyele in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Olukolu stated that as at the time of the ugly incident, the Commissioner, Abiodun has been dropped in his house safely while the driver and the police orderly were attacked while returning back to the office.

Speaking on the ugly incident, the Commissioner of Police, Shina T. Olukolu said “Last night, there was an incident where the vehicle of the Commissioner for Lands in Oyo State was attacked by criminals when they ran into a group of Okada riders who were criminals operating on and the driver ran into the criminals blindly and they were shot at close range”.

“The driver subsequently died in the hospital while the police orderly is still receiving treatment in the hospital” he said.

He further said “As at the time of this incidence, the Commissioner for Lands was safely in his house. The police orderly and the driver were returning the vehicle back to the office when they ran into this gunmen”.

Olukolu assured the people in Oyo State that the police are on top of the situation to ensure that the criminals do not go scot-free. 

He however thanked the Oyo State government for their supports towards the donations of the vehicles fitted with communication gadgets that would enhance the security patrol in the state.
