UI Inaugural Lecture: Professor Lameed to deliver lecture titled ‘'WILDLIFE, NOT HARD-LIFE: CUSTODIAN OF ENVIRONMENT'

The current Head of Department of Wildlife and Ecotourism Management, Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources; University of Ibadan. Professor Gbolagade Akeem Lameed will on Thursday 5th December, 2019 deliver the 476th inaugural lecture of the University of Ibadan.

The title of the Inaugural lecture is ';WILDLIFE, NOT HARD-LIFE: CUSTODIAN OF ENVIRONMENT';.

The erudite professor specializes in Wildlife Ecology with specialties in Primate-ecology, Environmental Impact Assessment on Wildlife, Socio-economics/eco-tourism and Domestications of some Indigenous Wildlife. He had his first degree in 1988, with second and third degrees in the same discipline.

Professor Lameed has authored and co-authored a number of books and chapters in books. Also Edited two books at InTech, Rijeka, Croatia: Biodiversity Enrichment in a Diverse World and Biodiversity Conservation and Utilization in a Diverse World, both published in (2012) and Global Exposition of Wildlife Management (2017). He has also published more than fifty articles both in reputable journals and conference proceedings, locally and internationally. He is a regular resource person in various teams of Environmental Impact Assessment within the country (Nigeria).

He is a recipient of various grants among which are Waste to Wealth grant from Centre for Environmental Protection and Natural Resources (CEPNAR) in University of Ibadan (2002-2006) and Senate Research Grant (SRG) (2010). He attended International Training program organized by Conservation Strategy Fund (CSF) at Stanford University (2013), California US. At University of California, Berkeley Campus, in 2014 for training in a Leadership programme in Environmental Management

The inaugural lecture will take place at the Lakeside Lecture Theatre, University of Ibadan by 5:00 pm prompt.

Professor Abel Idowu Olayinka, Vice Chancellor, University of Ibadan will be the Chairman of the Inaugural Lecture. He will also be leading other management team of the noble institution.

The inaugural lecture will have in attendance researchers, policy makers, experts, family members, friends and well-wishers across Nigeria.
