Former Petroleum Minister Professor Tam David West has said that there are more thieves in government than saints in Nigeria.  He alleged that a government that said it spent 8trillion naira illegally must be made by all Nigerians to fund public education.  Professor West said any government said any government that fails to invest in education is a vagabond government.  "Any government that fails to invest in education is a vagabond government. The problem with Nigeria is that we have
more thieves than saint in government. We drill over two million barrels of crude oil per day. Why should we be poor? ASUU is saying put money in education to improve education quality for our children and those yet unborn. The same government that does not have money for education budgeted 1billion each o feed the president and vice president for a year. Are they eating rock in Aso rock? If you went to school without shoes ensure that your children have shoes. Good parents pray that their children must be better than them."  West who spoke at a Town Hall meeting Organised by University of Ibadan Chapter of ASUU lashed out at the Cordinating Minister of the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo Iweala over her comments on the 2009 agreement signed with ASUU.  Other speaker at the event were National Treasurer of ASUU, Dr Ademola Aremu, NLC chairman oyo state Dr Olanrewaju Bashir, ASUU chairman UI, Dr Segun Ajiboye, Dr Biodun Badmus (UNAAB), Comrade Mashood Erubami,
Comrade Abiodun Aremu, Femi Aborishade among other activists.  Professor West said that it was said to hear Dr Okonjo Iweala lack morality to budget 2billion naira annually for the food of President Jonathan and his Vice Namadi Sambo and then claim that  the same government cannot meet the education needs of the masses.  The former Minister said Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala was being paid in US dollars during Obasanjo administration totalling two million naira in a month without her rejecting it or insist she must be paid in naira to improve our economy.  He also wondered why President Jonathan is doing with ten presidential Jets while President of United states,Obama has just one adding that the possession of a university does not make one a good administrator.  "It is not having university degree that makes you a good leader. Yardua and Jonathan are the first set with university degrees but that has not translated to significant changes. Whitson Churchill
was not the best in his class but one of the best leader the world has ever produced. "  "I do not see any reason why any lawmaker should earn more than a university Professor. They spend less time, may not even have five credits yet a Senator in Nigeria earns more than ten Professors put together. A Senator in Nigeria can pay President Obama's salary four times. I don't know what is wrong with people when they get to the top. They become insane. You had no shoes. Should you not make it better for younger children. The best policy of government is that which is directed at the poor. God loves poor people and created so many of them and few rich ones".  Dr Bashir Olarenwaju, NLC boss oyo, "those who in govt do not have our time. They do not have regards for Nigerians. Nigerian federal government is insincere. A president who went without shoes. A minister of Education ought to have resigned if a ministry under which they work in in comatose. Nothing is
working in nigeria. Nigeria will be doomed if education is not sound enough. How many of them have children in public education? Their stolen money is being used to send their children abroad in order for them to return to rule over our children. How will our product be good if we do not have quality infrastructure to work with. We are fighting for the system, future of the country so that our children will not be turned to slaves"  The ASUU chairman UI in his welcome speech had said the town hall was to meet the masses and enlighten them about the ongoing strike and charged them to stand up and fight for their rights  There were placards with inscription such as "Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala: "ASUU accumulated earned allowances-No money; Constituency project allowances for senators-Yes money; Jumbo salaries and allowances for ministers and senators-Yes Money; left-over money in the purse to be embezzled-Yes money"
