Prof Kester Osegha Ojokheta, on Thursday 6th February 2020, presented his academic score card as the guest lecturer of the 483rd Inaugural Lecture of the University of Ibadan, on a lecture topic: “PROMOTE IT AND THE DIVIDENDS SHALL MANIFEST”.

Prof Ojokheta stated that the ‘IT’ means ADULT EDUCATION or ADULT LEARNING, or ADULT LEARNING AND EDUCATION as UNESCO termed it.

According to him, adult education involves people of all learning in a variety of contexts; in educational institutions, at work, at home, and through leisure activities.

He classified adult learning under three categories;

  • those who have limited or no access to basic  and functional education opportunities, often considered the ‘illiterates’ and the functional illiterates
  • those who have limited or no access to higher educational opportunities
  • those who have limited or no  access to lifelong learning opportunities

The double receptions at the end of the lecture, held at the CBT complex, distance learning, Ajibode- Sasa road, University of Ibadan were filled to capacity with throngs of well-wishers who were entertained with music, entertainment and refreshments.
