NDLEA Oyo State Command nabs 201 suspects for various drug-related offences

The Oyo State Command of the NDLEA had arrested 201 suspects for various drug-related offences in the state in the year 2019.

 This was made known in a press release, singed and made available to CEOAFRICA by the command’s PRO, Okuwobi Mutiat.

According to the command, 71 out of the suspects charged to court had been convicted, they had been given sentences to different jail terms ranging from 6 months to 15years.

The command had seized 3703.581kg of cannabis sativa with some other substances of abuse.

The command also uncovered a secret notorious skushi (a derivative pot pourri of illicit and controlled drugs) factory in Ibadan which led to arrest of 291 litres of skushi.

The command have no fewer than 15 persons undergoing counseling during the year and 8 have been rehabilitated and are doing well in the society.

The anti drug agency also gave brief drug counselling/ intervention to 143 persons in the year under review. Our enlightenment campaigns against drug abuse and trafficking in thee state is yielding positive results as we reached out to all and sundry, ranging from primary school, secondary school, tertiary institutions, private organizations, government establishment's etc.

During the year under review, the command destroyed over 40 hectares of cannabis farm land in Aba-Tade in Oluyole Local Government Area of the state, 0.284 hectares of cannabis farm land in Igangan, Ibarapa North LGA in the state.

The new State Commander Barr. Josephine Ruth Obi advised the public to always report any suspicious movements to the authorities concerned to enable them rid the society of criminal activities.
