The Forum of Nigerian Toxicologists (FONTOX) on the 11th , 2020 held an inaugural conference, tagged 'FONTOX-1' at the Preclinical Lecture Theatre, University of Ibadan, Ibadan Nigeria.
The 2-day conference with the theme "Contemporary Issues in the Science of Toxicology", keynote lecture delivered by Professor Momoh Yakubu from Texas Southern University on the topic:The Science of Toxicology:The Past, the Present and The Future, had more than 200 toxicologists and researchers in attendance .
The convener, Dr Alex A. Adedapo, in his welcome address, stated that FONTOX-1 is a reflection of the yearnings of Nigerian toxicologists to answer national questions of global relevance and this is reflected in the robust and cutting edge research of abstract submitted from the geographical zones of Nigeria.
FONTOX was conceived from Forum of Ibadan Toxicologists (FIBATON) because of the perceived need to harness our strengths in this young field of science that addresses environmental dynamics with an all encompassing approach.
According to him, FONTOX focus is to develop early career and graduate candidates who are the critical mass of the science of tomorrow.
