COVID-19: UCH CMD calls for adequate hospital facilities, says Oyo State needs over One Million PPE

Amid growing concerns over the Coronavirus pandemic, the Chief Medical Director of the Nigeria’s foremost  University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Professor Jesse Abiodun Olubanjo Otegbayo  even as he is currently on  self -isolation after testing positive to Covid -19 has appealed to  Nigerians to support the institution with funds to procure some hospital equipment necessary to combat the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the country.

According to him, ‘Oyo State need over one million Personal protective equipment (PPE) to fight the Coronavirus disease in the State.  UCH has the trained experts to support the government in its effort to fight Covid-19.

The CMD also called on Governor Seyi Makinde to do everything within its capacity as the state need to implement measures to care for coronavirus patients because we have limited facilities to keep the patients. 

“Oyo state needs a well-equipped IDH - infectious disease hospital across the centres ‘he said.

 Recall that CEOAFRICA reported that UCH CMD, Prof Jesse Otegbayo, provost and deputy provost of the University of Ibadan, UI, College of Medicine, Professors Ezekiel Olapade-Olaopa and Obafunke Denloye, have all tested positive to Coronavirus.

A breakdown of the case in the country according to the NCDC shows that Oyo State now has the third-highest number of confirmed cases in the country behind only Lagos and FCT.
