Medical aid delivered by Egypt on military jets to Italy on April 4, 2020 amid COVID-19 crisis

President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi sent  Egyptian Armed Forces to Italy on Saturday with  two military jets carrying medical equipment, protective suits, detergents and sanitizers.

Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed arrived in Italy on Saturday accompanied by an Egyptian military delegation to deliver the medical aid transported by two C-295M jets.

The minister was received by Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio, who expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s assistance and solidarity with his state and people.

The statement on the packages read in Arabic and Italian, "From the Egyptian people to the Italian people."

 

The visit follows a phone call between President Sisi and Italian Prime Minister on Friday Giuseppe Conte as the former extended condolences over COVID-19 victims, and expressed support to Italy in the face of the pandemic.

Italy has recorded more than 115,000 infected cases of coronavirus and 13,915 deaths. Meanwhile, the global cases infected with the virus reached more than one million people and 55,195 deaths were reported so far.
