Seaports Needed in Badagry, Delta and Other Region in the Country - Umar

The Minister of Transport, Sen Idris Umar, has said efforts were ongoing by the federal government to establish seaports in Badagry, Delta and other coastal towns in the country.

He made this known when a delegation of traditional rulers from south-south and south-east geo -political zone paid him a courtesy visit In order to identify with the creation of the Calabar seaport.

He said the dredging would pave way for economic activities and also be a source of massive employment opportunities.

He further added that the dredging Calabar Ports was part of its deliberate efforts to boost economic activities of the south-south and south-east geo- political zones of the country.

The minister also disclosed that the creation of more ports in the country was in line with the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan, even as he added that a maintenance company has also been established to manage the Calabar channel and urged the private sector to fully tap into the inherent economic advantages.
