Two men have been arrested by the police in Bauchi State for allegedly raping two young girls, four and seven-year-old. The incident occurred in Yelwa community of the state. The state Police spokesperson, DSP Haruna Mohammed, who made this known yesterday in Bauchi said those who defiled the girls are 18-year-old Dabo Luda and 22-year-old Anas Abdullahi of Inkil village in Bauchi metropolis. The Police Relation Officer (PRO) said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects lured the girls with biscuits, sweets and money in order to perpetrate the mischief. He said: “The suspects had been having carnal knowledge of the two innocent girls until luck ran out on them. A good neighbour in the area was trailing their movements and reported the matter to the police who swung into action and arrested them. Further investigations conducted by the police also revealed that the suspects are close relations of the victims who took advantage of their familiarity with the families to perform such heinous acts on them.” He advised parents to monitor the movement of their children closely, saying they should warn them against accepting gifts or money from strangers as these could be used as traps to lure them.
