There was chaos in Kaduna, Monday, as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was held hostage by soldiers at the entrance to Hotel Seventeen, along Lafia road, Kaduna, venue of the international conference on security and development challenges of pastoralist in West and Central Africa.

The soldiers on guard at the venue of the conference insisted on searching his official car conveying him to the conference, which also carried an official coat of arm.

Besides, the Speaker who arrived the venue of the International Conference at 9.16 am, ahead of other dignitaries was stopped from gaining immediate access to the hotel premises by the soldiers even though the seal of his office flag was conspicuous and despite protest from his security aides attached to him.

However, the soldiers rebuffed the protest by the security aides to the speaker, insisting that they must search his car before being allowed into the premises.

Sources told Journalists that in the midst of the pandemonium and to avoid an ugly scene, “Tambuwal angrily forced himself out of his car and walked into the hotel premises and into conference hall, leaving behind his official car with the full complement of the speaker's flag and insignia of his office”.
