Nigerians has been urged to emulate the virtues of the former Secretary General of the Common-Wealth, Chukwuemeka Eleazer Anyaoku for his unparallel devotion to duty.
This indication was made by President Goodluck Jonathan, Olusegun Obasanjo and Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday at the Launch of the book, ‘Footprints of an Ironic Diplomat,’ written in honour of Anyaoku.
President GoodLuck Jonathan speaking through his representative, the Foreign Affair Minister, Olusegun Ashiru acknowledged Anyaoku’s uncompromising personality, stating that his advocacy for social, political and economic emancipation of Nigeria as well as Africa is very fascinating as he has demonstrated an uncommon sense of patriotism and unwavering dedication in serving the nation.
According to the president, who remarked that Anyaoku represents an enigma of our time and a Trojan warrior with an unquenchable appetite for more victories, Anyaoku as secretary general of the Common-wealth, spearheaded the struggle for the emancipation of Africa, especially all the people under oppressive rule.
Obasanjo in the occasion, pointed out that Anyaoku is an accomplished Nigerian who is among the world class, adding that he has represented the country both ably and magnificently by the way he has done his job on the international arena, not only to earn himself respect, but to also give Nigeria a good image.
Bola Tinubu, the chief launcher, represented by Leke Pitan, former Commissioner for Health, Lagos State, said Emeka Anyaoku was a detribalised Nigerian who rose to the peak of his career and still brimming with enormous energy to contribute more to the overall development of Nigeria, Africa and the entire world.
