The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, CP Salam Amidu Boladi has replied Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi, that the Police Command under him will never police lawlessness in the State against laid-down policing rules, as his job entails him to protect lives and property of citizens of the state.
The CP, while reacting to a viral video on social media platform of his purported confrontation with the Deputy governor of Ondo State over some number of cars, said, first and foremost the video is an attempt to foment sentiments and misunderstanding in the State, as he asserted that it is only apparent that the Police under his policing architecture takes decisive responsibility when performing their legitimate functions as prescribed by law.
In a press release signed by the state Police Command Police Public Relation Officer(PPRO), ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, made available to CEOAfrica, the Police Commissioner said he only came to the scene when his officers and men could no broker peace between the aides of the Governor and that of his Deputy over the number of cars the Deputy governor would drive at a time.
“It is only necessary that his presence at the scene as the Command’s Commissioner of Police could calm frayed nerves.” The statement read.
Furthermore, he said having listened to the reason for the misunderstanding, he advised both sides to come to terms and solve their grievances.
Speaking on the matter, the CP emphasized that he has never been into politics all through his life and would not want to be dragged into it.
He therefore advised the good people of Ondo State that as the race to Ondo government house draws very close, politicians with interest in the race should learn to play their game with the dictate of its laws. He also advised their followers to shun any act capable of causing chaos or lawlessness in the State.
