Ondo State High Court, Akure has sentenced a teacher, Omotayo Adanlawo, to life imprisonment for defiling a 10-year-old girl.

The convict who was arrested by some members of the police force from the state committed the crime at Iju town, in the Akure North Local Government Area of the state in 2018 where he defiled the daughter of the founder of a church where the pedophile attended in the community.

According to the information gathered by newsmen, the convict has been on trials for the past two years with several witnesses testifying to the matter in court prior to the judgment.

The trial judge, Justice Samuel Bola, gave his verdict on the ground that the defendant was unable to prove his innocence in the matter beyond a reasonable doubt after a sequence of arguments from both prosecuting and defense counsels.

Since Adanlawo failed to give convincing evidence and testimony to prove his innocence, he was therefore sentenced to life imprisonment.
