Galant police corporal was reportedly shot dead after gunmen invaded a police station at Ikolaba area of Ibadan, Oyo state capital, on Friday.

The deceased was among the officers on duty when the attackers struck.

Some other police officers were said to have sustained injuries in the incident which took the policemen by surprise.

SP Gbenga Fadyei, police public relations officer in the state, confirmed the incident but did not give details.

He said policemen had been deployed in the area and normalcy has been restored.

It is not clear those who launched the attack but Fadeyi said investigation is ongoing and the Commissioner of Police Special Team are on the trail to capture those hoodlums who carried out the dastardly act.

SP Fadeyi therefore assured the good of Oyo State that the Commissioner of Police, CP Nwachukwu Enwonwu is leaving no stone unturned in the fight against crime in the State.
