Top Nigerian entertainers have joined their Hollywood counterparts as they take to social media to mourn the loss of the entertainment icon behind the face of Marvel movie’s Black Panther, Chadwick Boseman.

Boseman, who has been an inspiration to people across the world with the Black Panther movie, died aged 43 after a four-year fight with colon cancer at home in Los Angeles on Friday with his wife and family by his side.

In their condolence message to the late movie star, media mogul, Mo Abudu, Kemi Adetiba among others took to their social media handles to pay tributes to Boseman.

Mo Abudu tweeted on her official page:  “Watching this made me cry. Chadwick Boseman 29 November 1977 – 28 August 2020. You came and you conquered, playing a role that changed global perceptions on the big screen about Black and African storytelling. Your Legacy lives on Rest in Peace.”

Kemi Adetiba via her Instagram account posted, “Dear 2020… I’m not understanding. I feel like I’ve been whiplashed. I have no words.

“Actually, I do and they are quite a lot. I really should write a blog on how he’s sudden death not only shook me but gave me PTSD. I do hope I get round to it, but if there’s anything we should take away from this remarkable performers' death, it’s that we should LIVE while we are ALIVE and not only LOVE heavily on our loved ones but also TELL THEM we love them. If there’s anything I’ve learnt (through experience) this 2020, it is that ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN.

“REST IN POWER, Black King!!! Rest knowing you did more in 43 years than many have done in a lifetime.”

Banky W took to his official Instagram to send a short message, backed up with a picture of the star and late basketball legend, Kobe Bryant. He said, “It’s not about when you die, but how you lived.

“2020 sha. Kai.”

Actress, Genevive Nnaji, while mourning the loss, posted a picture of the star on her Twitter account with the caption, “You left a mark that will not be forgotten. Rest In Power brother.”

Also, actress, Uche Jumbo, depicted Boseman’s death as “heartbreaking” and extolled the deceased who after being “diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 During that time, he delivered Civil War, Marshall, Black Panther, Infinity War, Endgame, 21 Bridges and Da 5 Bloods to us while battling his illness for 4years.”

A statement issued by the late actor’s family explained him as a true fighter as he kept on stirring blockbuster movies even during his chemotherapy session.

His family said, “A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much, from Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more – all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.”
