Alhaji Yekini Abass popularly known as Y.K. Abass was Friday installed as the first Babaloja General of Oyo state.

The installation ceremony was headed by the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji who performed the traditional rites and installation of the first Babaloja General.

The Olubadan disclosed that Y.K. Abass was the rightful head to lead other traders in Ibadan land considering his contributions to the development of Oyo state adding that the newly installed Babaloja General was quite lucky to have been installed at that time as it coincides with his, that is Olubadan's birthday.

The Olubadan who said that the installation ceremony was made possible through the efforts of the market traders, most especially that of the entire people of Oyo state prayed for peaceful coexistence in Ibadan land, and Nigeria as a whole as Y.K. Abass takes on the mantle of leadership.

While speaking at the ceremony, the first-ever Babaloja of Oyo state, Alhaji Yekini Abass expressed his profound gratitude to Almighty God for making the installation successful.

However, the newly installed Babaloja General assured the people of the state a better leadership, charging them to shun all forms of discrimination and disagreement that can hinder the success of his administration.

The Babaloja General who was unable to contain his excitement commended the efforts of the Executive Governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his selfless efforts in ensuring peace and harmony amidst the traders in the state.
