60-year-old man arraigned for trespassing on Obasanjo’s farm

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ota, Ogun state has arraigned a 60-year-old man, Ibrahim Ibuoye, for alleged trespassing on the farmland of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Ota.

The accused charged on four counts bordering on the breach of the peace, forceful entry, causing damages, and conspiracy, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Rosemary Samson, told the court that the defendant and others at large committed the offences on August 26, 2020, at the Obasanjo Farm Limited, Ota adding that the defendant and his accomplices were armed with weapons and purportedly conspired among themselves and broke into the farm, thereby conducting themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace.

Inspector Samson who also alleged that the defendant damaged a Honda Accord car with number plate LSD 655 EV belonging to one Kazeem Ajiboye stated that the offences contravened sections 81, 390(9), 451, and 517 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun State, 2006.

In judgment, the Magistrate, B. S. Abdulsalam subjected the defendant to N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum, adding that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with pieces of evidence of tax payment to the Ogun State Government and must have landed property within the jurisdiction of the court as part of the bail conditions.

The case was adjourned till September 14, 2020, for hearing.
