FG Appoints Keshi, and Others for Culture Parastatals

The Federal Government through the Minister of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, Chief Edem Duke, Wednesday announced the appointment of Mrs. Dayo Keshi, as the chief executive officer of National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC).

  Keshi, wife of former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Joe Keshi, took over from Mr. M.M. Maidugu, whose two-term tenure ended on Monday.

  Mrs. Keshi recently retired as Director, Cultural Industry and Heritage, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and National Orientation, where she served for 33years.

  Other appointees include Mr. Ferdinand Anikwe who is  to take over the helmsmanship of Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization (CBAAC) and Mrs Chika Balogun who will be serving as the new head of National Institute for Hospitality and Tourism (NIHOTOUR).

  While Anikwe is to take over from Professor Tunde Babawale, Balogun is to take over from Dr. Munzali Dantata both of whom have completed their two terms respectively.

  Until his appointment, Mr. Anikwe was the Special Adviser to Enugu State Governor on Chieftaincy Matters. A position he assumed on retirement as the Permanent Secretary, Enugu State Ministry for Culture and Tourism.

  Balogun on the other hand was a Senior Special Assistance to Chief Edem Duke.

  According to the announcement, the appointments take immediate effect.  The appointment of two females brings to three, the number of women heading various agencies in Culture and Tourism Ministry.
