The family and other close associates of Late Honourable Temitope Olatoye popularly known as Sugar under the auspices of Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation (OSMF) have stated that it was in the cause of ensuring the victory for Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in the last governorship election in the state that the late politician lost his life.
The late politician’s political family stated this on Saturday, 3rd October, 2020 in a media parley with the South West Group of Online Publishers (SWEGOP) held at Spice Kitchen (formerly Hon Olatoye sugar Campaign Office) in Ibadan. It must recalled that Honourable Temitope Olatoye died few hours after casting his vote in the governorship election of Saturday, March 9, 2019.
In narrating how their late leader died, the Chairman of Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation (OSMF), Hon Olajide Olatoye popularly known as Big Daddy said they “had voted at Ward 13 in Lagelu (Local Government) and Sugar was called to come and rescue the PDP that the former ruling party had perfected their rigging plans. Had Sugar not yielded to their plea and rescued the situation in his village at Lalupon, he would have been alive today. So, Sugar sacrificed his life for the PDP victory in the 2019 election”
Big Daddy also declared the family’s uncompromising support for the Engr. Seyi Makinde led Oyo State government. In his words, “He is someone we know that is performing. When you study the body language of Seyi Makinde and his government, we believe in him. Our own political ideology is not all about compensation but doing what will be beneficial to the masses. We move the state to greater height with him. We want to contribute our quota.”
The family also showered encomiums on Hon Kamil Akinlabi, the Chairman of Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency (OYSROMA) describing him as a dependable ally of the Sugar political family as it was he who convinced the Governor how Late Sugar worked to ensure victory for the PDP in the last governorship election.
The family also craved continued support of the media while stressing that the foundation is committed to continuing the philanthropic strides of the late politician. Gabriel Olatoye, the Spokesman of the Foundation said “in every little area that we have tried to contribute for the uplift of the society, you are the ones that will let the whole world know.
“We want to have you as friends, not necessarily encourage you to patronize us but to report our event and constructively criticize what we do when needed. So we need you to collaborate with us on how we can get better,” he said.
The late politician’s political associates are set to officially join the PDP on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the Lagelu Local Government headquarters of Olatoye Sugar Memorial Foundation.
