Nigerian Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, on Wednesday, the 7th of October, decorated 169 promoted officers of the command at the decoration ceremony which held at the Command quarters in Agodi, Ibadan.

The Comptroller of the Immigration Service, Oyo State Command, Sir Usman Babangida, in his welcome address; praised the promoted officers for their hard-work, dedication, as well as effort, and thanked the invited guests for their presence.

He said; “our gathering is another moment of joy, not only in the hearts of those officers promoted but also in the history of our noble service. A total of 169 officers have been elevated out of over 9 thousand officers”.

He charged them to use the promotion as a platform to work harder in their service to the fatherland in order to meet the expectations of Nigerians.

Hon. Hakeem Olaleye Obadara, who was representing the Speaker of the Oyo State Assembly, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin; wished the promoted officers well in their endeavours, whilst admonishing them to work harder in their service to the Immigration Service of Nigeria.

The Area Commander of the Nigerian Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Zone, Mrs. Uche Ngozi, who was also in attendance; reminded the promoted officers of the higher responsibilities their promotion brings.

She urged them to be good role models, imbibe the spirit of teamwork and ensure proper supervision of their subordinates, so as to excel in their tasks.

In the same vein, Col J. A. P. Oladipo (Rtd) reminded the officers that they are the key to the country’s borders and encouraged them to hold on to their integrity because “in this our clime now, one of the greatest challenges we are facing is lack of integrity”.

The promoted officers, unveiled their new positions with their spouses beside them, amidst salutes and congratulatory handshakes and newly promoted Deputy Comptroller, Tony Chikezie, gave the vote of thanks on behalf of all the promoted officers.
