The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, along with officials of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Federal Road Safety Corps, and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, visited the scene of the gas explosion that rocked Baruwa area of the State yesterday.
Odumosu sympathized with those whose lives and properties had been affected by unfortunate inferno and assured them of the determination of the force to apprehend those culpable.
According to the police, two persons have been confirmed dead and five others are at different critical states in various hospitals within the locality.
This death toll however, differs significantly from what had been earlier reported by Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, who put the fatalities at five.
CP Hakeem Odumosu advised the residents of the area to steer clear of scene which had been cordoned off to protect the people of the area.
In another development, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police played host to the Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Paul Ayeni and his team at his Ikeja office yesterday.
The Police boss and the new Commandant agreed to sustain the synergy between the two agencies in order to solidify security architecture in Lagos State.
