Burkina Faso and Lesotho clash in the other Group C match
Gabon have not been in the greatest of form in recent times. In July they lost home and away to Rwanda and drew with Morocco in March and Libya in January.
But their superstar striker Pierre-Emerick ‘Spiderman’ Aubameyang is in the Gabon squad for the Angola match and will carry much of his team’s hopes.
Gabon's head coach Jorge Costa had this to say ahead of the match: "My spirit is great. I have called up players to have fun and enjoy their football and to defend the country's colours.
“We want the three points against Angola, a team that I know perfectly well."
Angola meanwhile will look to the class and experience of their striker Manucho of Rayo Vallecano in Spain, who has been called up for national duty for the first time since the Africa cup of Nations finals in South Africa in 2013.
Vunguidica and Geraldo have also made a return to the national fold after heedng the call by head coach Romeu Filemon.
In recent games, Palancas Negras drew with Botswana and beat Ethiopia in August this year while drawing with Iran and beating Morocco in May.
On Wednesday evening, 10 September, Lesotho will host Gabon while Burkina Faso travel to Angola in the second round of Qualifying matches.
