President of South Sudan Salva Kiir will make a courtesy visit to his Sudanese counterpart, Omar Al-Bashir in Khartoum over bi-lateral relations, CEOAFRICA.com gathered.

It was further gathered that Barnaba Marial Benjamin, South Sudan’s Foreign Affairs Minister will be meeting with Ali Ahmed Karti of Sudan’s Foreign Ministry next week so as to agree on the agenda and a date for the summit.

Statement released from the Office of the President confirmed that President Kiir’s visit would aid the implementation of the 11-month-old cooperation agreement between the two nations, which involves border security and claims over support to rebel groups, oil exports, citizenship and other issues.

The two leaders will also discuss how to resolve various border disputes, especially the area of Abyei which has witnessed series of border disputes in the past.

This will be President Kiir’s second visit to Sudan since the independence of South Sudan from Sudan.
