Ogun Police Arrest Three Car Thieves with 20 Vehicles

The Anti Robbery team attached to Agbado Division of the  Ogun  State Police Command has arrested  three  members  of a  notorious gang that specialised in car   theft at  Itoki in Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State .

The gang was said to have stolen more than twenty vehicles in Agbado area of Ogun State within the last one month.

The State Police Public Relations Officer  in the State , Muyiwa Adejobi in a statement yesterday said the  suspects were arrested while the anti-robbery team was  on routine patrol within the area.

According to Adejobi, the Policemen because, e suspicious   when they  came across a Volkswagen car abandoned  at Itoki area.

He  said ” the police men laid ambush for the perpetrators and eventually arrested one Okechukwu Ebeatu,26, of Gas Line Area Itoki Ogun State, who hails from Anambra State while attempting to move away with the car.

“The arrest of the first suspect led to the arrest of additional two suspects at different places and time in Ogun state.

” The other suspects arrested are Odichi Ogbejesi,25, of Apata Area Itoki Ogun State,hails from Imo state and , Nojimu Afolabi,32 of Alafia Street,Command Road, Ipaja Lagos,who hails from Ikire Osun State.

” Nojimu Afolabi is one of their receivers who receive and sell these stolen vehicles on their behalf. The manhunt by the police that led to the arrest of the suspects lasted for two weeks.

“The police have recovered eight vehicles from them so far. Efforts are on to arrest other members of the gang and recover other vehicles so far stolen by the syndicate. The syndicate specialized in stealing vehicles from park with master key.

“The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye while parading the suspects at his Eleweran Office on Friday appreciated the efforts of those members of the public who released information to assist the police men in the course of their investigation.

“He encouraged car or vehicle owners to always protect their vehicles were parked and endeavor to procure some security gadgets to secure them.

“The Commissioner of Police assured the general public of proper investigation and justice in the matter; and promised that the command will make sure all hands are on deck to have effective policing of Ogun”.
