The number of victims who died from the two boats that sank on Thursday off the coast of the city of Khomes, east of Tripoli, has risen to 100.
This is according to a statement by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) on Thursday.
The Libyan coastguard and some fishermen rescued 47 migrants and recovered 31 bodies, while the search for other victims continues, according to IOM.
At least 19 people, including two children, have recently drowned after two boats capsized in the central Mediterranean, while the NGO "Open Arms" rescued more than 200 people in three separate operations, the organization said.
The organization confirmed that at least 900 people had drowned in the Mediterranean while trying to reach European shores, as more than 11,000 had been returned to Libya since the beginning of this year.
