Professor of Law, Yemi Osinbajo, has been favoured to emerge the running mate to any Northerner that emerges the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), from the information we gathered.

Osinbajo is the chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) of Redeemer’s University (RUN) and a pastor at Olive Tree House of Prayers for All Nations, Banana Island, and a parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG).

The former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the administration of former Lagos State governor and National Leader of the opposition party, Bola Tinubu, between 1999 and 2007, is reportedly the strongest consideration of the party caucus in the South-West.

Tinubu was initially the choice for the ticket, before the issue of religion, which would have seen the party field a Muslim presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate ticket came up.

Osinbajo, who is a strong ally of Tinubu, is reportedly being tipped to replace the former governor on the ticket, instead of going for an “outsider,” who might dump Tinubu and his people after assuming office.

When contacted in London, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed claimed he was not aware of the move, adding that it might be too early to say who would be the vice-presidential candidate, when the presidential candidate had not been picked.

Calls made to Osinbajo rang out while a text message sent to him was unanswered at press time.
