The Nigerian Medical Association, Kogi State chapter has appealed to the Federal Ministry of Health to quickly resolve the issues surrounding the closure of Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, to ensure prompt reopening of the hospital.

This is just as the association commended the Minister of State for Health, Senator Olorunnibe Mamora, for his visit to the centre in Lokoja on Wednesday to fast tract the process of opening of the hospital.

In a statement by the state Chairman of NMA, Dr Oyiguh Omakoji; and Secretary Dr Famotele Tolorunju, on Wednesday, the doctors promised to make sure that the facility was reopened to the public.

The statement added, “With the euphoria of the minister’s visit which has  raised  hopes of the workers, we are  looking forward for his directive to reopen the hospital in few days time in the best interest of Nigerians.

“The people are  in dire need of healthcare services in the hospital. We are eagerly awaiting the response from his office.”

The hospital was shut down about five months ago when some hoodlums attacked and vandalised some vital equipment of the  hospital.
