National Assembly has been advised against meddling with legislation on any aspect of the local government administration in order not to undermine the fundamental principle of Nigerian Federalism.

State Governors on the platform of the newly registered All Progressive Congress (APC) made this declaration at their maiden meeting held in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

Deliberating on revenue allocation in the Forum,  Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi pointed out that no effect has been given to the existing proposals on the need to give more fund to the states and local government despite the recommendations made to the Federal Government.

Speaking on the communiqué which reads: “On the spate of terrorism in the northern part of the country”, Feyemi stated that APC abhor the killing of security operatives and innocent citizens in North and has resolved to take measures to support through provision of relief materials.

The Forum calls for proactive steps by the Nasarawa State Government in instituting a Judicial Commission of Enquiry with a view to bringing to book the perpetrators of the horrific act.

Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola further highlighted on the local government autonomy, stating that it is in the power of the state assembly to create local government and therefore the council is directly the responsibility of the state assembly.
