37-Year Old Ethiopian Reggae Singer, Eyob Mekonnen Dies of Stroke

The entertainment industry in Ethiopia was thrown into mourning at the weekend, following the death of popular reggae singer Eyob Mekonnen.

CEOAFRICA.com gathered that the 37-year-old died after prolonged battle with stroke.

Sources disclosed that the musician was flown to Kenya, after his fans had helped to raise enough fund for his travelling expenses, but he died at the Kenyan hospital.

Meanwhile, people have expressed shock over the death of the musician described as one of the best Ethiopia ever produced.

His close friend and manager Eyob Alemayehu described him as “one of a kind…humble and extremely loyal.

“A man of his word, reliable, caring, a strong believer, very up front, talented and much much more,” he concluded.

His body would be returned to Ethiopia on Tuesday and his funeral would be held on Wednesday.
