According to news reaching the desk of CEOAFRICA.com, Chinese Telecom giant ZTE has agreed a deal worth $800 million with Ethio Telecom in Addis Ababa.

This agreement will help the state-owned telecommunication to expand its coast across every length and breadth of Ethiopia, as this would double the number of mobile phone subscriber to 50 million and increase 3G internet access.

Speaking after the agreement was signed, the acting head of Ethio Telecom Andualem Admassie said,” The expansion is vital to attain Ethio Telecom's objective of increasing telecom service access and coverage across the nation, as well as to upgrade existing network to new technology.”

Furthermore, it was gathered that this project would help to introduce 4G broadband internet in the capital, Addis Ababa.

Our sources made it known that out of 85 million people in Ethiopia, only 1% have access to the internet on mobile phone and just 23% of the whole population subscribed to mobile phone.
