Two pensioners in Obiaruku community of Delta State yesterday died after waiting for two years for their unpaid pension.

In the last few weeks, there has been growing concern over unpaid pension in the state. Some pensioners on Tuesday organised a protest to the state House of Assembly and the Government House to demand the payment of their pensions.

While reacting to the plight of pensioners in the state, the state chairman of the State Pension Scheme, Chief (Mrs.) Christiana Siakpere, said government was making frantic efforts to pay the dues of the pensioners.

She said that the state government has been committed to payment of pensions and gratuities to pensioners in the last eight years.
