ARREST: Police Nab 2 Over Kidnap, Rape Of Female Journalist

Lagos State Police Command has arrested two of the gang members who kidnapped, raped and collected N1million ransom from a female NTA journalist in 2012.

The police were said to have arrested the duo at Egbeda roundabout, in the metropolis.

Bashiru Raji and Christian Jacob and three others at large were planning to raid a bank in Lagos when the officer in charge of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, SP Abba Kyari, received a tip- off and moved with a team of the squad and arrested Raji and Jacob, while other three members of the gang managed to escape.

The two suspects were said to have ran from Akure in Ondo State to Delta State before they were apprehended.

A police source told us that they were nabbed in Lagos on August 16, around 10am.The source said their aim was to rob customers of hotels and also raid banks.

The source revealed that SARS in Akure has been on their trail for long but SARS in Lagos arrested them.

Raji, 36, who hails from Odigbo in Ondo State confessed that he was the one who drove the vehicle during the operation. He said he has two wives and seven children.

“We are a five-man gang. When one of my wives died, one boy was in my house, he was smoking Indian hemp. He introduced me to the gang. We picked the journalist on the Ibadan -Akure expressway. We took her to our hideout in Odigbo.
