It was cheering news for the sick female student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile Ife, Osun State after her test for possible infection by the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease came back negative.

She had come into contact with one of the confirmed EVD patients during her recent trip to Port Harcourt prompting a red alert when she fell sick on her return. OAU authorities promptly sent her to Lagos for tests and proper observation.

However, on Thursday, the management of the school announced that the student has tested negative to the virus.

Disclosing this, the school’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olanrewaju, said: “The preliminary result of the girl is out and she tested negative.

“Another test will be done tomorrow.

“The university will issue a statement on this later today.”
