Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum, has dismissed the State Commissioner of Health, Dr. Salihu Kwayabura from his position.
The announcement of the sack was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Special Adviser on Public Relations and Strategy, Malam Isa Gusau.
Gusau stated that “Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum has relieved the state’s commissioner of health, Dr Salihu Kwayabura, of his position.”
He said the directive was part of necessary measures to reposition the ministry of health.
“Governor Zulum expresses gratitude to Dr Salihu Kwayabura for his immense contributions to the development of Borno’s public health sector in nearly two years of the current administration, and the years he had served under the previous administration.
“He has also directed his Chief of Staff, Isa Marte, a Professor of pharmacology and fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Science with a specialty in cancer research, to oversee the affairs of the ministry pending the appointment of a substantive commissioner,” Gusau disclosed.
