A group known as Sickle Cell Hope Alive Foundation (SCHAF) has bestowed an ambassadorial honour on the Iyalode of Egbaland and Yoruba Land, Chief Mrs. Alaba Oluwaseun Lawson.
The award makes Iyalode the Ambassador of Sickle Cell Prevention in Nigeria.
The team, Sickle Cell Hope Alive Foundation and the Vice-Chancellor of Chrisland University, Prof. Mrs. Chinedum Peace Babalola who is also the Treasurer of the foundation, expressed that the honour given to Chief Mrs Lawson was to acknowledge her passion for education and contribution in building quality education in Nigeria.
The team implored the new conferred Ambassador not to relent in giving out her voice in advocating the prevention of Sickle Cell as Nigeria is ranked first in the sickle cell disease burden globally with 40 million people carrying the gene.
In her remark, Iyalode Alaba Lawson expressed her gratitude to the Chancellor of Chrisland University, High Chief Dr. Mrs. Winifred Awosika for sending her an exceptional gift during her recent 70th birthday celebration.
She also commended the Sickle Cell Alive Foundation team for choosing her, and promised to always render her hands in assisting the non-governmental organization in reducing the high rate of sickle cell in Nigeria.
Sickle Cell Hope Alive Foundation is a non-governmental organization dedicated to enhance awareness, educate Nigerians on Sickle Cell Disease and improve the quality of life for individuals who experience life-altering situations caused by Sickle Cell Disease (SCD).
