The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, has faulted the mode of operation of the senior military officers in the war against terrorism in the country, especially in checking the insurgent sect’s activities in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states.

Lt-Gen. Ihejirika while addressing the officers at the second workshop organized for Commanding Officers from military formation under the 1 and 3 Divisions of the Nigerian Army, urged the officers to wake up to their responsibilities and check the violent Islamic sect already taking over their formation.

Ihejirika charged the commanders to take adequate measures to change the current security challenges in the nation, saying the traditional method of fighting must be deployed to crush the violent Islamic sect.

Speaking further on the theme of the workshop ‘Building capacity of unit commanders to meet contemporary security challenges’, he pointed out that there is lack of tactics in the action of the officers, stating that the commanders must be capable of taking the bull by the horn and  able to hit hard at the insurgent group.

He however urged the unit commanders to always be at alert to silence the terror insurgence militating against their effort.
