President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday called on soldiers to demonstrate 100 per cent loyalty to the nation.

The president made the call when he addressed cadets at the Passing-out Parade and Commissioning of 61 Regular Course and Short Service Course 42 at the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna.

President Jonathan said the Federal Government was committed to the welfare of soldiers.

The president, who reviewed the passing-out parade, said his administration had not forgotten those that served the nation during its time of trial.

Jonathan said he would ensure the government did not abandon soldiers who played a vital role in the unity of the country.

He called on the officers to be well disciplined everywhere they found themselves.

The President said that with the current security challenge facing the country, those posted to the frontlines should have the courage to defend the country.

He said his government was determined to train an efficient military as a national objective, adding that NDA should also serve as a capacity building centre for young women and men in uniform.

He said NDA was a centre of unity with every part of Nigeria represented, adding that the government was committed to due process, equity and merit in doing things. A total of 327 officers graduated in both courses.
