Nigeria Youth Movement, Niger State chapter, has issued 21-day ultimatum to the State’s Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello to resign as a result of maladministration and failure to protect lives and property in the state.
The Co-ordinator of the Movement, Niger State chapter, Yusuf Yakatun, in a statement posted on social media platforms of Niger indigenes, ‘Nigerlites Speak out’, added that failure of the state governor to resign or bring back the abducted NSTA and Government Science College Kagara School students would invite a mass protest in the state.
Yakatun said “We cannot pretend to be happy with the situation and the style of leadership in Niger State. It’s very unfortunate that a promising year like 2021 has been cut short for many families through your actions: incompetence, unjust leadership, unemployment and insecurity.
“We have watched a short video clip of NSTA travellers abducted with utter dismay and disillusionment yesterday, sadly, and we also received a shocking news of killings and kidnapping of GOVERNMENT SCIENCE COLLEGE KAGARA Students.
“However, we cannot longer subscribe to your maladministration and futile excuses or even tolerate callous attitude of your leadership.
“We have issued out a 21 days ultimatum to the Executive Governor of Niger State to resign or bring back the abducted NSTA and G.C.K. School children/or face a mass protest in Niger State.”
Some of the comments under the post are in support of the motion. One of those who commented suggested the group occupying Niger State Government House in Minna to drive home their point.
One Sdeen GDB wrote “A massive protest/movement is of essence #occupy Niger state Government house…this will show our level of seriousness.”
At a press conference in Minna on Wednesday, the governor had said his administration would do its best to ensure the return of the kidnapped victims at Kagara.
