African Union laureate and Vice Chancellor, Chrisland University, Prof. (Mrs.) Chinedum Peace Babalola, has endorsed the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine against the deadly coronavirus.
The Professor of Pharmaceutical chemistry and Pharmacokinetics gave her support for the vaccine during an interview session with a radio station in Abeokuta, monitored by CEOAFRICA.
Speaking on the speculations that Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine causes blood clot, Prof. Babalola noted that “It is necessary for every human body to react to vaccinations; the World Health Organization is still studying if there is a relationship between the vaccine and blood clot.”
She stressed that “there is need for quality health care system to detect the effects of vaccination, and parameters should be put in place to detect people who are suffering from blood clotting after vaccination.
The VC therefore advised the government to create an enabling environment and resources for vaccination research in Nigeria and not to depend on foreigners in funding the investment.
