Chrisland University organises training programme for staff

Professor Chinedum Peace Babalola-led management team has again organised a 2-day training programme for the members of staff of Chrisland University.

The training which commenced on Thursday, 15th April and ended on Friday, 16th April, 2021 at the University Auditorium was tagged “The Total Staff".

CEOAFRICA gathered that the staff training was in accordance with one of the mandates the Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Peace Babalola has for Chrisland University which gears towards improving the “efficiency” and the “quality standard” of the both academic and non-academic staff members.

While speaking on the topic: “Understanding and Actualizing the Vision of the University,” Prof.  Babalola reiterated the visions of the learning institution: “to become a world –class university renowned for intellectual freedom, ethical standards, research, community service and the outstanding training of a new generation of leaders.'

She explained that the vision of the citadel of learning can only be achieved by “having focus, rerouting mindset and attitude towards work.”

The erudite Professor added that transparency must be ensured at all levels of leadership in the university, noting that “every staff and student will be aware of every basic and important information both for learning and administration.”

The African Union Laureate therefore urged the members of staff to put all hands-on deck to achieve the vision of the university.

In her remarks, the former Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture (FUTA), Abeokuta, Prof. (Mrs.) Morenike Dipeolu, charged the staff members to be more committed to students’ development, teaching and research.

Prof. Dipeolu advised that academic ethics and integrity must be observed among all workers.

Prof. Temidayo Akinbobola, the Dean of the College of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, spoke on the “Academic and Administrative Management in Universities.”

He noted that a good leadership pursues to meet targeted goal while ensuring that his or her team is well motivated.

He highlighted the requirements for academic leadership to be communication, proactivity, knowing when to take risks, resilience, and passion for what one does.

Mrs. Omisope Margaret while addressing participants at the workshop on “FINANCE: THE HOW AND WHY” disclosed financial management is important in our daily living.

She stated that “Financial management helps us in budgeting our income. Budgeting help us in planning our income. How much should be spent? How much should be saved? How much should be invested?”

She further explained that to be prudent and investment conscious, we must stick to our budget, avoid over spending, advising that all our excess income or fund should be directed towards saving and investment.

Mr O. Omotoso, speaking on “Prescription of Best Administrative and Ethical Practices for Professional Excellence in Chrisland University” urged the staff members to always strive for excellence and encouraged them to be trustworthy, accountable, courteous, respectful, honest, open, transparent, competent, ethical, honorable and act with integrity for them to be professional in their various services.

Dr. Ojuolape Kuti, who is a Medical practitioner, spoke on balancing stress and work.

Dr. Kuti disclosed that stress can be caused by pressures of work deadlines or job insecurity.

She acknowledged that managing stress has to become a “lifestyle because it is ineveitable”.

The medical personnel thereby called on staff members to always find ways to maintain balance in their daily activities.

Other keynote speakers at the two-day workshop include: Prof. A. Adegoke, Director of Academic and Physical Planning; Dr. Oni Omogbadegun, the Acting HOD of Computer Science, and Mr. Daniel Adeboye.
