Geidam, hometown of the Acting Police Inspector General, Usman Baba Alkali, was attacked by some suspected Boko Haram on Friday night.
It was gathered that the attack was foiled by army troops with the assistance of fighter helicopters from the Nigerian Air force (NAF).
Details of the attack are still sketchy, however, Yobe State Police spokesperson, ASP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident.
He added that, “an Air Force jet had been sent to provide assist for the ground troops.”
The insurgents had attacked Geidam before on February 9, barely 24 hours after the new Chief of Army Staff, Ibrahim Attahiru, visited troops after his appointment.
It was reported that three customs officers were abducted by the insurgents during that attack.
