Tragedy struck in Blackpool, England as a nine-year-old boy named Jordan Banks was confirmed dead after apparently being struck by lightning on a football field.
Police officers were called shortly after 5pm on Tuesday to a field at School Road after the reports that a child had been injured.
Emergency services responded and the boy was taken to hospital but died a short while later.
It is believed the boy was struck by lightning, although inquiries are still ongoing.
The boy';s family were informed and were being supported by officers.
Tributes have been paid to Jordan and flowers and gifts have been left at the scene of the incident.
He was said to have engaged in the football game in order to raise funds for counselling services in honour of his uncle before he was reportedly struck by lightning.
