Our beloved country Nigeria has come a long way with lots of ups and downs through these past years; but no matter what gets thrown at us, we will remain in love with our Mother land. From our colonization by the British in 1885, through our years of oppression and eventual independence in 1960, Nigeria as we know it has been molded into a greater nation than was imagined. Yes we have had our fair share of trials, yes we have made a lot of mistakes and yes we haven’t gotten to that point where we all long to be; but some facts are undeniable – We love our country Nigeria, we have come a long way, Nigeria is not perfect but we have definitely gone farther than we expected and there is still no place like home for the Nigerian…there will never be a place like Nigeria! It is in this spirit of ‘Love For Our Country’ and the upcoming Independence Day Celebrations that Naij.com is bringing you the ‘Naij Independence Contest’. We want to show our love for our country and pride in our heritage as we clock 54 on the 1st of October, 2014. To join the contest, simply send a nice picture of yourself rocking your native attire and a short write up titled ‘What I Love Most About Nigeria’ to contest@naij.com, be sure to include your contact details: Full names, phone number, state of origin, e-mail address and location so you can be contacted at any time. Entries will be scanned and our finalists will be picked before the week runs out. You will be contacted by mail if your entry is part of our final selections and a link will be sent to you as well so you can invite your friends and families to vote for you. Naturally, the entry with the most votes will win our grand prize of a brand new mobile phone! Consolation prizes will also go to the 2nd and 3rd positions; so hurry now and send in your entries.

Good luck.
