Boko Haram Insurgents Surrender Weapons

With the recent news of the death of allegedly Boko Haram leader’s, Abubakar Shekau, Insurgents are now coming out of the hiding and surrendering. After massive fighting in Konduga, terrorists has since last night laying down their weapons as the Nigerian Army sweep the area.

According to Defence Headquarters, last night, a set of terrorists surrendered to troops in Kawuri, the town a bloody battle raged between troops and the terrorists a fortnight ago leaving over 50 terrorists dead.

In a tweet issued out by the Defence Headquarter’s Twitter handle read: “Another Set of 10 Terrorists yesterday surrendered to Troops at Kawuri. In custody for necessary security debriefing”

According to reports coming in, with the latest surrender, over 40 insurgents have now given uo in Konduga.

On Saturday, 5 insurgents had layed down their weapons to soldiers at Konduga had plead for mercy.

Fifty terrorists were taken down by the Army during a recent battle as troops raided their hideout in Kawuri before setting out on a planned attack on Konduga.

They had captured One Fabricated Artillery Gun, Two Anti – Aircraft gun, an armoured vehicle and assorted types of ammunition.

Also recovered were hardware, weapons, food items and personal belongings in the consequent raid.

The Army reported minimal casualty in the battle.

Meanwhile, following the recent victory of Nigerian military in different encounters with Boko Haram insurgents, Governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima has said insurgency will soon be a thing of the past.

President Goodluck Jonathan had also revealed that the menace of the dreaded terrorist group, Boko Haram will end by next month and he guaranteed that things will change.
