PDP AGGRIEVED AS AUTO CRASH CLAIMS ITS 8 MEMBERS

People Democratic Party (PDP) has been bereaved of eight members from Abia State following the auto crash that occurred on Tuesday along Awka-Enugu expressway.

According to the report, the accident which claimed the life of eight PDP members occurred at about 11.00pm on Tuesday while the victims were returning to Umuahia from Awka where they monitored the party congresses.

Mr. Sunday Iroegbu, the driver of the PDP Hummer Bus, who also sustained injury, blamed the accident on over speeding by the pilot vehicles, stating that the vehicles were moving more than 120 kilometres per hour not minding that it was drizzling.

Dr. Abali Chukwu, the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Umuahia, who also confirm the incident, stated that the 4 among the 10 others affected by the incident are still in a critical condition receiving treatment at the intensive care unit.

Dr. Chukwu also calls for establishment of a trauma centre for the hospital to be able to contend with cases of accident which are recently on the high increase.

However, Governor Theodore Orji in accompanied by senior government officials and party officials was said to have visited the survivors at the hospital but did not make any public comment.
